💥 Once a patient’s weight bearing restrictions are lifted, I like to really focus on even weight distribution through the foot with standing, if not putting a little more emphasis on distributing weight towards the toes in order to activate the calf to a greater degree and break the habit of the patient keeping their weight posteriorly within their base of support.
👉🏼 If not coached correctly, when peforming balance tasks or the standing marching task, the patient will keep almost all of their weight in the heel— this will continue to lead to gait abnormalities and eventually heel pain
💣 I know I preach this a lot, but no exercise is too small to be coached well. FORM IS 🔑. An exercise can be performed several different ways to achieve several different outcomes!!
